Al Shira’aa Hickstead Derby 2017 – new sponsor, same Marquee Hire supplier!

Seaholme Marquees are very proud to have provided marquee hire for events at Hickstead for 18 years.

The annual Hickstead Derby is one of the most famous showjumping events in the world, with a challenging course that has barely changed in five decades.

No other event in the world asks this much of its entrants, and no other course creates this type of drama.

The Sussex-based show is best known for its international classes – featuring some of the best horses and riders in the world – yet there are showjumping classes for every calibre of rider and plentiful alternative entertainment for equestrian fans, including the traditional Celebrity Polo Match.

This year’s Hickstead Derby runs from 22th to 25th June and is the first event sponsored by Al Shira’aa.

The Seaholme team have had a busy week setting up hundreds of metres of “shedding tents” (marquees) for the Charles Owen shopping village, selling all manner of equestrian merchandise. The 3, 6 & 9m wide partitioned marquees offer each seller a sizable outlet for the duration of the event, with exterior signage and weather protection in the form of “roll-up” marquee walls.

We have also erected several lavishly furnished VIP hospitality tents.

Pictured is the VIP reception with comfortable sofas and entrance to the hospitality area, all decorated with lush marquee linings in white and gold, wooden flooring and carpet and beautiful exotic flowers to ensure all VIP visitors feel special from the moment they arrive!

Working in partnership with Hickstead for so many years, the Seaholme Marquees team are a “well-oiled machine” when it comes to setting up events at the West Sussex showground. We also provide an on-site team for the duration of the event for any marquee maintenance requirements.

Marquee Wedding Venues near Brighton

Seaholme Marquees offer several rural marquee wedding venues, all within a few miles of Brighton.

Whether you are looking for old-style glamour, a traditional country pub or an idyllic countryside setting, we can help you find the perfect venue for your big day.

Our newest venue is perfect for your dream wedding, aptly called ‘Woodland Wedding Venue’: set in 60 beautiful acres with its own terrace.

New for 2017! Within a sunny and secluded gated private venue, the marquee itself is surrounded by bluebell fields and woodlands. Supplied with everything you need – furniture and a choice of stunning interiors, delicious catering and various entertainment options – or you are welcome to hire your own suppliers. Camping is available on request.

Woodland Wedding Venue is in Albourne, close to Brighton and the South Downs and just 5 miles from the nearest train station.

 

For a festival-style wedding, we offer ‘Woodmancote’: a beautiful, laid-back venue set within 3 acres of unspoilt countryside.

Available with marquee and accessories, toilets, power and a choice of catering options, this venue can be hired for one day or for the whole weekend, with camping for you and your guests if required (however you may wish to keep the adorable hand built Shepherds Hut for yourself!).

Woodmancote is located near Henfield, just north of the South Downs and minutes from Brighton by car.

 

If a country pub is more your style, we recommend The Royal Oak: an attractive gastro pub with ample space for a marquee in the garden.

This traditional pub provides a sophisticated countryside wedding venue with excellent food, allowing you to extend your guest list with the hire of a marquee.

The Royal Oak is situated in the village of Poynings, just north of Brighton and within the South Downs National Park.

 

If it’s all about the glamour, Preston Manor is the ideal venue for you: a beautiful manor house just outside of Brighton city centre.

This stunning wedding venue is both elegant and intimate. The function room accommodates just 30 people and can be accompanied by marquee hire to house further guests.

Preston Manor is surrounded by the tranquil grounds of Preston Park, and very easily reached via the A23 and A27.

 

Our largest wedding venue near Brighton is Q Leisure: an activity centre that’s also a favourite for hen and stag parties!

With well-kept grounds and an attractive beamed function room that overlooks the pond and patio garden, the venue makes an excellent setting for a wedding marquee. The centre also offers a full catering service and many activities to entertain your wedding guests.

Q Leisure is just down the road from Seaholme in Albourne, Hassocks, and easily reached by car from both Brighton and London.

Woodland Wedding Venue near Brighton

The fully lined clearspan marquee is 6m x 30m metres and ideal for a variety of table layouts for up 150 seated guests, with top table and trestle tables and all crockery, cutlery and glassware supplied, table decorations, chairs with elegant chair covers and sashes and a dance floor for everyone to dance the night away!

A separate catering tent, BBQ, outside seated and heated terrace and luxury toilets are all pre-prepared on site.

We can provide delicious catering, staff and entertainment from our trusted partners – choose from musical entertainment including DJs, bands and karaoke, and menus from buffet banquets to 5 course fine dining – or you are welcome to hire your own suppliers.

There are many stunning views for the backdrop of your wedding photos, and tranquil corners for stolen moments to yourselves!

As the wedding planning season heats up, we’d like to take the opportunity to introduce the various wedding marquee packages and venues available via Seaholme and our partners.

We offer several beautiful outdoor venues for hire where the marquee can be customised to your specification as well as licensed wedding venues in Sussex that have a permanent marquee during the summer months.

Marquee hire is an excellent option to increase the seating capacity or reception space for your wedding, and because we have partners near Lewes, Crawley and Worthing where our marquees are generally available from April to September, all you need to do is confirm your guest list … And possibly choose your interior theme, accessories and menu – but the venue itself or our own team will be happy to assist you!

Our Wedding Venues with a Marquee

Near Lewes, a country pub next to the river may be your ideal venue – The Anchor Inn in Barcombe offers a stylish marquee and wedding venue for up to 180 guests, and is also licensed for civil wedding ceremonies.

Our wedding venue near Crawley is Tulleys Farm, another idyllic country setting – yet close to London and Brighton! – with stunning photograph opportunities, and overnight camping available on request.

Just north of Worthing, South Down Gun Club also hires a wedding marquee from us during the busy summer months, offering an all-inclusive wedding venue with stunning views and suitable for 80 to 150 people.

Marquee hire for the London to Brighton Bike Ride 2016

Seaholme provided the marquee hire for a second year at the London to Brighton bike ride in June, run by The British Heart Foundation charity and sponsored by Tesco.

After a highly successful 2015 event, we were delighted to be asked again to help with this famous event, providing marquees at both the starting point in Clapham Common and the finish line on Madeira Drive in Brighton.

Both locations required an open-fronted VIP marquee adorned with ivory roof and wall linings.

At Clapham Common, the VIP marquee stood at 6m x 12m with an adjoining 6m x 6m marquee. Inside we positioned several poseur tables, trestle tables and wooden patio sets while clear panel windows, portable flooring and charcoal grey carpet finished the ‘indoor’ look. The larger Registration tent at 6m x 18m was filled with trestle tables and plastic bistro chairs.

The VIP tent in Brighton was a longer and thinner 3m x 24m, with open ends, to run alongside the final metres of the ride. Our new white and grey striped walls added a touch of fun to the exterior.

Next door were two further marquees – a small Merchandise tent for Tescos and a 32m long first aid tent for St Johns Ambulance. As they were up adjacent to the eastern end of Brighton beach, each of these marquees were secured with weights and guy ropes to counteract any forceful sea breezes.

Smaller tents were also set up at Ditchling Beacon and Hove Lawns.

The project ran over two days to include transportation, assembly and dismantle of the marquees, all carried out by our professional and efficient team.

Back to the seafront – marquees for Brighton Half Marathon

Seaholme’s marquees took another trip to the seaside last weekend for the Brighton Half Marathon 2016, now in it’s 26th year.

Run by The Sussex Beacon, Vitality Brighton Half Marathon starts and finishes at Madeira Drive with a buzzing crowd and a myriad of marquees!

This is the second year Seaholme have been involved in the event, which – in terms of marquee hire – rivals the London to Brighton Cycle Ride. The finishing line is surrounded by marquees of all sizes including tents for massage and first aid, a large marquee to shelter VIPs and celebrities plus long lines of side-by-side charity stalls, stretching an impressive 39 metres and 90 metres along the promenade.

As several of the tents were set up on Brighton’s pebble beach, wooden flooring was provided along with ¾ ton weights to hold the structure steady should adverse weather come in from the coast.

The VIP tent, at 3 metres x 30 metres, proved to be the most elaborate marquee for the event, including ivory roof and wall linings with royal blue swags plus wooden floor and carpet, and – in true VIP style – pretty uplighters and the best of marquee furnishings including gold bistro chairs and lime wash chairs with gold seat pads.

Well done to everyone who helped organise and who took part in the Vitality Brighton Half Marathon this year, and especially to the winners of the race, Leigh Lattimore and Paul Martelletti, who achieved new records for the course.

Albourne Village Show

We love a little community spirit here at Seaholme Marquees, so every year we support our local village show at Albourne in West Sussex.

Just down the road from our office, the show has been held on the first Saturday in September since 2009, and is completely independent – no council funding or grants – relying on their own fund-raising and the support of local businesses on the day.

Albourne Village Show celebrates local talents in horticulture – from growing flowers to giant pumpkins – and each year’s event includes Apple Pressing with fruit from a local orchard plus jam and cake making, paintings and a dog show!

Seaholme Marquees join in the fun the way we know best. We provide the marquee every year, with the primary use of housing all the above local delights – and often proven useful shelter from the odd rain shower or warm late summer weather.

As a growing event, the marquee was a sizable 6m x 21m, provided with 30 trestle tables for the stall holders.

As always, we received a lovely “thank you” letter from the committee after the show:

“A huge thank you for all your help from the Committee of the Albourne Village Show. The Show goes from strength to strength every year and that would not be possible without people such as you giving your assistance. The donation of the marquee is always a huge success and is the centrepiece of the show.”

Fiery Foods Festival 2015

As testament to our excellent service, Seaholme Marquees gain a great deal of repeat business for local festivals and events; one of them is the Fiery Foods Festival in Brighton.

We provided the marquee hire for the UK’s “hottest” food festival back in 2013, and – evidently happy with our work – the new management contacted us again for this year’s event.

Now in it’s 9th year, the event is host to The National Chilli Awards, a frightening chilli-eating competition and a multitude of delicious chilli-based food stalls, plus excellent live music and the buzzing atmosphere you would expect at any festival in Brighton.

We provided six marquees in all, including the Stage Marquee at 12m x 15m, the Bar Marquee with twin cone roof at 9m x 12m and the Exhibit Marquee which was 33 metres long!

Additional items hired included marquee flooring, tables and 250 gold Bistro chairs, a refrigerated trailor unit and the security fencing for the perimeter of the festival, which was held in September in Victoria Gardens, near The Royal Pavilion in Brighton.

Marquees for Dressage at Hickstead event in July 2015

From July 28th to 31st, Seaholme Marquees once again supplied and installed marquees at Hickstead Showground, for one of their largest Dressage events – the Hickstead International 2015.

Working closely with the event organisers at “the UK’s premier dressage venue”, we provided marquees large and small with marquee linings and decorations, furniture and flooring for the various hospitality tents, merchandisers’ marquees and event essentials: the Gallery, Grandstand and Changing Room, the Irish pub and catering marquee, as well as the marquee and accessories for the Hickstead Dressage Ball on Saturday evening, a fantastic round-off to the competition.

As you can see from the photos, equestrian enthusiasts were able to get really close to the action, yet enjoy the competition in the comfort of the marquee.

Seaholme Marquees provided the furniture and furnishings in the marquees including the lime wash banqueting chairs which are both comfortable and stylish, also our marquee linings and swags not only reinforce the corporate image but also add a luxurious finish to the marquees. For the Hickstead Dressage Ball on Saturday evening held in one of our large 12m x 30m frame marquees, we provided accessories including blackout linings, chandeliers and a dance floor to set the scene and create the atmosphere for dancing.

A highlight of the event were the wonderful Ballylone Concert Flute Band who performed two concerts and two fantastic marching displays, again spectators were able to enjoy these performances from the luxury of the hospitality marquees. See their photos here.

Awards Ceremony Marquee for East Grinstead Rugby Club

For the first time in its’ history, East Grinstead Rugby Club hired a marquee at the club for their 2015 end-of-season Awards Ceremony.

Phil Major, Operations Director at the club, stated he was a little apprehensive about marquee hire at the sports venue to begin with, but “any worries we may have had were taken away by the excellent service from Seaholme Marquees … All of your team could not be more helpful”.

The event itself would seat over 150 people, in a marquee adjoining the rugby club building just a couple of miles south of East Grinstead in West Sussex. Read Phil’s testimonial letter to Seaholme Marquees here.

To help create a glamorous evening atmosphere, the club also hired white and blue linings with Chandeliers and starlight roofing, flooring, tables and chairs. So delighted with a successful ceremony and the elegant venue created for it, Phil finished his letter by saying 

this is the first of hopefully many more of these Marquee events at our club … photographs from the event show how stunning the marquee looked on the night.
