12 marquees for Brighton Half Marathon 2018

Events, News Feb 24, 2018 No Comments

Seaholme are providing marquee hire for this year’s Brighton Half Marathon, organised by The Sussex Beacon charity and sponsored by The Grand Brighton.

Glorious sunshine and all-systems-go for the team this weekend, as we set up an array of marquees for the seafront event starting at 9am on Sunday 24th February. It will be the 28th annual half marathon in Brighton, sponsored by The Grand for the first time this year.

Starting on Madeira Drive, the race passes many Brighton landmarks between Ovingdean, Old Steine and Hove Lagoon. Twelve of our marquees will be strategically positioned at various parts of the course, providing everything from the Corporate marquee and interior furnishings to the Massage and First Aid tents. It’s our fourth time supplying marquees for this event and it’s a little different every year.

Several large marquees hired for the day include the Charity Village, at 3m x 72m and 3m x 48m, with partitions. The Corporate Relay and VIP tent will stretch 3m x 60m, complete with glass doors and windows, wooden floor and Marine Blue carpet. Inside will be furnished – in keeping with décor at The Grand – with ivory roof and wall linings, gold swags, plus luxury Banqueting Chairs with seat pads.

The Youth tent is a whopping 9m x 27m with wooden flooring and there’s even a Team Beacon tent, a Changing Marquee and Baggage tent for the runners.

Aside from marquee hire, we’ll be delivering marquee lighting, trestle tables, cocktail tables, Bistro chairs, ¾ ton weights and a forklift.

It’s going to be a busy weekend for Seaholme – including transportation, assembly and dismantle of the marquees and furnishings – but our thoughts are with the runners and their hard work to accomplish the half marathon.

Best of luck to everyone, and thank you to The Sussex Beacon for our involvement in this fantastic charity event.

Wedding Marquee with Ceremony Room for Victoria & Alistair

Weddings, News Sep 08, 2017 Comments Off on Wedding Marquee with Ceremony Room for Victoria & Alistair

We don’t often feature client weddings on our Blog, but we thought this to be a wonderful example of an ‘all-in-one’ wedding marquee venue.

Having ‘officially’ married in Greece the week before, Victoria and Alistair planned to re-affirm their vows with family and friends at their countryside home in Surrey, on the 8th July 2017.

With a large and secluded tree-lined meadow to erect the marquee, we made excellent use of the space with a whopping 12m x 45m structure to accommodate 125 guests for the day.

To ensure a seamless wedding timeline, Victoria requested separate ‘rooms’ within the marquee for the ceremony, the wedding breakfast and evening entertainment, which we partitioned with marquee walls and curtains allowing each area to be revealed when required.

The gallery below shows a few of our own pictures – setting up the marquee – plus beautiful wedding photos provided by Victoria and Alistair that show the marquee in all its glory, both by day and by night.

The spacious roofed entrance to the venue (12m x 6m) was elegantly furnished with ivory roof linings and purple swags, Chandelier lighting, wooden flooring and silver carpet – a colour theme continued throughout the venue – plus poseur tables and a 3m x 18m white carpet walkway.

The walkway created a central ‘aisle’ for guests and the happy couple to be led to the marquee’s ceremony room (12m x 6m), an open-sided section with windows, white roof and wall linings and covered chairs with purple sashes.

A discreet marquee wall, with opening middle section, kept the main wedding room (12m x 18m) hidden until it was time to be seated for the meal. Guests were comfortably spaced around the Top Table on 12 round tables with delicious food served from the adjoining ‘stand-alone’ catering tent (6m x 6m).

The white and purple theme with silver carpet continued throughout the marquee, with the main room beautifully lit by natural light plus LED uplighters and gorgeous black Chandeliers with dimmer switches, to smoothly transition from day to night.

The evening entertainment area of the marquee was a real showpiece! Taking up 12m x 12m of the huge 45 metre long marquee, with a large black dance floor – as big as the catering tent! – surrounded by white two-seater sofas and coffee tables with mirror balls, blackout linings and white swags for the ultimate wedding disco effect.

However this wedding disco offered another secret area, with a 12’ x 16’ stage behind the last reveal curtain, giving maximum effect to the wedding band.

Seaholme Marquees also provided bar hire and an adjoining bar storage area plus band area, luxury toilet hire, generators (to power both the main marquee and catering tent), marquee floor / matting and further marquee lighting where required.

Royal Longines International Horse Show 2017

Events, News Jul 28, 2017 Comments Off on Royal Longines International Horse Show 2017

Marquee hire for another famous Sussex event, held at Hickstead since 1992 – the Longines Royal International Horse Show.

This, the official show of The British Horse Society, is now in its 109th year and features hundreds of international showjumping classes plus carriage driving, scurry driving, side-saddle classes and – “one of the highlights of the Sussex social calendar” – Ladies Day at Hickstead (29th July).

The Royal Longines International Horse Show is patroned by Her Majesty The Queen and takes place from 25th to 30th July.

Saturday’s Queen Elizabeth II Cup is one of the most coveted titles in the national showjumping circuit, while Sunday’s finale is the Longines King George V Gold Cup, one of the oldest and most prestigious classes in the world.

Seaholme are providing over 200 partitioned marquees for shopping stalls at the event. The marquees consist mainly of 6m x 3m “shops” with wooden flooring, matting and branded banners, selling equestrian clobber and equipment. There are also larger marquees for bars, the food hall and hospitality tents all adding up to 2700 m2 of tentage – which is a lot!

Pictured – during morning preparations for the event – is a selection of marquees in the Charles Owen Shopping Village, with weather-resistant curtain-style marquee walls, all nestled perfectly within the picturesque outdoor venue.

Seaholme have provided marquee hire for events at Hickstead for many many years, including the Hickstead Derby, and are very proud to continue our partnership with the showground and their suppliers.

Lawn Game Ideas For Your Reception That Your Guests Will Love

Weddings Jul 21, 2017 Comments Off on Lawn Game Ideas For Your Reception That Your Guests Will Love

Keeping your wedding guests entertained is an important part of your big day, particularly if you are hosting the whole day in one venue.

If you have hired a marquee, there is usually the opportunity for outdoor activities so that your guests are not “just waiting around” in between parts of your wedding – and it’s a great way for single guests to meet others.

Lawn games are becoming increasingly popular to feature at weddings. Why? Because everyone can enjoy them; the young ones and the older ones. They can bring everyone together. They act as a great ice breaker, conversation starter and are simply just down-right fun.

Wedding entertainment doesn’t necessarily have to be dancing; there are many people that don’t enjoy this, so having another alternative form of amusement for your guests is vital. So many more options are available at

Depending on your theme, we have come up with several ideas for lawn games that will have your guests talking and laughing out loud on your wedding day. They don’t necessarily have to be pricey; there are plenty of DIY options that you can create on a budget.

Coconut Shy

A nostalgic visit down memory lane, coconut shys are a brilliant reminder of your old school fetes and will be popular with everyone. They are pretty simple to create yourself as all you really need are several coconuts, stands and a ball to throw at them. If you’re worried about this not fitting in with your theme, the coconuts can be decorated to fit in with any colour scheme. You can even dress them to look like members of the wedding party by putting mini wigs on them or creating paper outfits, this will certainly go down with a laugh!

Giant Jenga

One of the most common lawn games seen at weddings is giant Jenga, it’s a classic family game and it is one of our favourites! This game will have guests feeling tense, especially because it’s a larger version to tackle! If you wanted to match your colour scheme, the blocks can be painted to your colours, so that the game doesn’t look out of place. It can also be a very easy DIY job if you managed to remember anything from your school woodwork lessons.

Sack Race

Take your guests back to their primary school sports days and set up a sack race! Easy, cheap and outrageously fun, this might actually end up being one of the highlights of your wedding day! Mark out lanes and set up a finish line. You can even turn it into a huge competition with heats, semi- finals and finals. Trust us, you’ll have a blast.

Our fairground favourite, hook a duck is a popular stall game that can play a brilliant part at your wedding. Keep the young ones entertained for hours and turn it into a game where prizes can be won. You don’t need to spend a huge amount on this; simply buy a small paddling pool and few rubber ducks. You can then add hooks to the ducks and attach string to a few sticks and add hooks to these!

Croquet is very popular at wedding receptions these days. It’s so easy to set up and simple enough that you don’t need to outline rules for guests. Get really creative with this and take your guests on a journey. Set up each hoop with a milestone of your relationship for example ‘first date’ and ‘moved in together’. It’s a fun touch to a very traditional game.

Ring or Horseshoe Toss

A fun game to play when you’ve had a few alcoholic beverages as your judgement starts to sway; you can make fun of your friends trying to get a ring over a bottle- of course, a fantastic game for the little ones as well. Turn this game into an interesting discovery by putting little facts about you as a couple into the bottles so if someone manages to get a ring over it, they get to read the fact inside. Remember; keep it ‘PG’ if you have little ones about!

Instead of rings, why not use personalised horseshoes designed with your names and the date of your wedding on. It’ll serve as a beautiful keepsake for you in years to come and you can even use them as presents for guests.

We couldn’t leave this out! Everyone loves limbo and it can bring an entire wedding party together. Simple and easy to setup, all you need is a bit of music or a drum beat and have your guests line up and have a go. All ages can do it, you can even encourage the older generation!

We hope to have given you some brilliant ideas for your own reception!

Remember, sometimes the simplest and oldest games can often be the very best. Even if you use just one of these, it will guarantee to keep your guests entertained for hours (particularly as the drinks go down) and they make for the best memories through pictures.

Another testimonial from a happy repeat client:

Just wanted to say thanks for your tent services at the Masters. Olly and Dave were great – on time, friendly and engaged. They put up everything quickly and perfectly and then on Sunday took everything down. It works so well when you have guys that have done this in previous years. Please send Jennie and my thanks to them.

Al Shira’aa Hickstead Derby 2017 – new sponsor, same Marquee Hire supplier!

Events, News, Reviews Jun 22, 2017 Comments Off on Al Shira’aa Hickstead Derby 2017 – new sponsor, same Marquee Hire supplier!

Seaholme Marquees are very proud to have provided marquee hire for events at Hickstead for 18 years.

The annual Hickstead Derby is one of the most famous showjumping events in the world, with a challenging course that has barely changed in five decades.

No other event in the world asks this much of its entrants, and no other course creates this type of drama.

The Sussex-based show is best known for its international classes – featuring some of the best horses and riders in the world – yet there are showjumping classes for every calibre of rider and plentiful alternative entertainment for equestrian fans, including the traditional Celebrity Polo Match.

This year’s Hickstead Derby runs from 22th to 25th June and is the first event sponsored by Al Shira’aa.

The Seaholme team have had a busy week setting up hundreds of metres of “shedding tents” (marquees) for the Charles Owen shopping village, selling all manner of equestrian merchandise. The 3, 6 & 9m wide partitioned marquees offer each seller a sizable outlet for the duration of the event, with exterior signage and weather protection in the form of “roll-up” marquee walls.

We have also erected several lavishly furnished VIP hospitality tents.

Pictured is the VIP reception with comfortable sofas and entrance to the hospitality area, all decorated with lush marquee linings in white and gold, wooden flooring and carpet and beautiful exotic flowers to ensure all VIP visitors feel special from the moment they arrive!

Working in partnership with Hickstead for so many years, the Seaholme Marquees team are a “well-oiled machine” when it comes to setting up events at the West Sussex showground. We also provide an on-site team for the duration of the event for any marquee maintenance requirements.

Marquee hire for the London to Brighton Bike Ride 2016

Events, News Jul 04, 2016 Comments Off on Marquee hire for the London to Brighton Bike Ride 2016

Seaholme provided the marquee hire for a second year at the London to Brighton bike ride in June, run by The British Heart Foundation charity and sponsored by Tesco.

After a highly successful 2015 event, we were delighted to be asked again to help with this famous event, providing marquees at both the starting point in Clapham Common and the finish line on Madeira Drive in Brighton.

Both locations required an open-fronted VIP marquee adorned with ivory roof and wall linings.

At Clapham Common, the VIP marquee stood at 6m x 12m with an adjoining 6m x 6m marquee. Inside we positioned several poseur tables, trestle tables and wooden patio sets while clear panel windows, portable flooring and charcoal grey carpet finished the ‘indoor’ look. The larger Registration tent at 6m x 18m was filled with trestle tables and plastic bistro chairs.

The VIP tent in Brighton was a longer and thinner 3m x 24m, with open ends, to run alongside the final metres of the ride. Our new white and grey striped walls added a touch of fun to the exterior.

Next door were two further marquees – a small Merchandise tent for Tescos and a 32m long first aid tent for St Johns Ambulance. As they were up adjacent to the eastern end of Brighton beach, each of these marquees were secured with weights and guy ropes to counteract any forceful sea breezes.

Smaller tents were also set up at Ditchling Beacon and Hove Lawns.

The project ran over two days to include transportation, assembly and dismantle of the marquees, all carried out by our professional and efficient team.

Find further photos of our marquees for the London to Brighton bike ride on our Facebook page, with several pictures from both 2015 and 2016.
